ESL Parenting Class FAQ

Thank you for your interest in joining CGSKid as a teacher for our ESL Parenting class. We provide an international learning experience to Chinese children ages 1-3 in our virtual classrooms. We offer fully immersive group English language instruction combining dance, singing, physical activities, and emotional intelligence.

You probably have a lot of questions, and we have answers.

What are the educational requirements?

You need at least a bachelor’s degree and a TESOL/TEFL certificate is preferred. You must be at least 18 years old and have experience working with young children

What is the application process like?

Step 1: Application Review

Once you’ve confirmed that the teaching times match your availability, send in your

the application so we can look it over.

Step 2: Demo Class Submission

If your credentials and experience match what we’re looking for, we’ll ask you to submit a 2-3 minute demo video. We want to see how you would teach a simple concept to babies and toddlers 1-3 years old.

Step 3: Interview

If we love your demo video, we’ll invite you to schedule a live 20-minute demo class and interview with our staff.

Step 4: Training

If you pass the demo class, you’ll do a training class with our trainer.

Step 5: You’re in!

Sign your contract and get ready to start teaching students.

Step 6: Final Systems Check

 You’ll do a final systems check on our teaching platform.

How many students do I teach in each class?

There are no more than 4 students in a class. Don’t worry, each student will have at least one parent in attendance to help direct the children.

Do I need to prepare teaching materials?

No! Our curriculum team has already designed materials for every class. However, we ask that teachers prepare for class by reviewing the content beforehand in their teaching portal.

Do classes take place in Zoom or on another platform?

We have developed our own cutting-edge platform to facilitate our classes.

What equipment do I need?

Desktop or laptop

Desktop, Laptop, or MacBook. Windows 10 or higher and Mac OS 10.X or higher

Webcam

A webcam or a high-quality built-in camera is required.  A camera with a resolution of at least a megapixels is considered high-quality.

Headset

You will need to have a Bluetooth headset with a microphone. This will ensure there are no distracting echoes while you are teaching. It will also enable students to hear you clearly.

Fast Internet

A wired high-speed internet connection of at least 50Mb/s is required.

Light

We recommend a well lit space so students can see you clearly.

How long is each class?

Each class block is 20 minutes long.

How does scheduling work?

The class scheduler will book classes to match the parent and teacher’s availability.

When should I be available to teach?

Day time: 8:00 AM-12:00 PM Beijing Time;  Night time: 3:00 PM-10:00 PM Beijing Time. You do not need to be available to teach every day. You will be notified in advance via email.

How long is the contract for?

CGSKid signs 6-month contracts with applicants who pass the screening process. And the applicants will be signed as independent contractors.

When and how will I be paid?

Teachers are paid through Paypal / Google Pay once a month.

How much will I be paid?

Payment is starting from $18 per/hour plus a class bonus, keeping in mind each class is 20 minutes long.
